Seth Stevens art on display 9/-11/24
Although I started actually painting in 2015, I have been drawing and doodling all of my life, particularly at work, as it helped me to get through long meetings! As I have continued painting I have become interested more in figural abstraction than in purely representational work. I work in both oil and gouache paints, and sometimes acrylics. The relationship of light and shadow is an important focus in my work. I also like to try multiple subjects and styles, and cover a variety of topics including figures, landscapes, portraits; I have also been experimenting with more abstract pieces and collage. I travel between Connecticut and Provincetown, MA, and really enjoy capturing the landscape and feeling of both places. I frequently am in member shows a Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and have been accepted in several juried shows there. My current show at The Smithy is my first solo show, and I am delighted to be part of this show and exhibit my work in this beautiful space. I hope my work brings people joy and reminds them of places they know and love, especially in the Litchfield hills, where I grew up.
